International Women’s Day 2024: Get to know the women on the PSS Team

This year for International Women’s Day, we are profiling some of the women from the PSS support team. Today’s profile is on Amanda Galbraith, one of our current PSS Board Members.

Profile: Amanda Galbraith

Amanda Galbraith

What is your name and role in the pharmacy profession?

My name is Amanda Galbraith, and I am currently the Acting Chief Pharmacist at ACT Health.

What is your role in the PSS team?

One of my favourite experiences in pharmacy is to contribute to my profession, at the leadership level, and as a result I am a director of the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) and PDL.

The APC, as a PSS member organisation, can nominate a representative to sit on the PSS board, and the APC board have nominated me for this role. This is such an honour for me, as I am dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of pharmacists, with the peer to peer support provided by PSS.

What are three things you enjoy doing to relax outside of work?

I am really fortunate to start most of my days with my neighbour, with an early morning walk. We both take our dogs, and we walk and talk. It’s a great way to start the day. I also love to join my family by flying our hot air balloon, or spending quality time with friends.

What drew you to pharmacy in the first place?

I have always loved science, but I’m a people person, and I wanted something to combine the two. Pharmacy was a perfect blend for me.

How are you inspired by women in pharmacy? Do you have a role model within the industry?

I have long been inspired by a collection of amazing women in pharmacy. Starting with my preceptor, Marissa Benardos, my fellow female directors at the Pharmacy Guild, Toni Riley and Judy Liauw, Bronwyn Clark CEO at APC for her leadership style, and all my female colleagues who lift other women up.

I also believe it is my place to inspire other women, and encourage them to seek opportunities in our profession too.

Thank you for reading our profile on Amanda! We appreciate Amanda’s support of PSS.
